The Group Riding Consultation Division (GCD) is a division of the MSD Motors Division Foundation that moves out to an area, meets with ride organizers to hear what kind of charity event or fundraiser event that they would like to produce; and then provides any number of support methods that the hosting Rider or hosting organization might feel they need to achieve success.
Many rides and many folks would like to build a ride for others. Many are unsure, hesitant or concerned and often never do raise funds or awareness for others as a result of that fear.
The Foundation's GCD has been of service to hundreds of rides, thousands of Riders and scores of events; and perhaps can be of some use to you and your initiative.
Quite often folks or organizations know they want to have, host or execute a charity ride, a toy run, a poker run or memorial ride and most often for a very worthy cause. However, rarely do those folks or organizations fully understand the complexities, stresses and interoperability that is required to pull off such an event - let alone an event that leaves a savoury aftertaste for follow-on events in that region in the future.
The Group Riding Consultation Division (GCD) advises, helps, coaches, supports, analyzes and even interacts or helps direct with you, in order to help you get your first ride-fundraiser or your fiftieth ride-fundraiser; off the ground and running well.
Your fundraiser ride or charity event probably started with an idea or out of a group of ideas. Perhaps, you have already committed a group to that idea. If you're ideas help a good cause such as: toy run, help a downed rider, help veterans, assist those currently in uniform, raise rider awareness or assist a charity effort already underway; then we are happy to lend you support to see your endevour succeed or improve.
There are many areas of basic level, medium level and high level planning that can make both small group and large group rides effective, enjoyable and even rewarding for all involved as well as at the different levels of ridership. Some of those factors come with expertise in route management, rider organization, group formation, group leading, group sweeping, recruitment, training, middle leader employment, motor escort direction, reward building, fostering inter-discipline, safety briefings, event insurance background as well as law enforcement engagement if desirable, permit acquisition if needed, rendezvous site planning, administration, charity engagement, media embeds, media reporting, community engagement, micro logistics, macro logistics, group morale, event longevity, state/province engagement and much more.
Instead of groups working hard and reinventing the wheel by themselves, MSD brings various playbooks, options and a brain-trust to pick some knowledge from. What you wish to pull off has probably already been done more than a few times somewhere at sometime; likewise, we want to see all fundraiser-rides get out, be organized, be safe and of course, be a success in their region.
If you are researching for an entire group of Riders, quite often we can come to your general region or clubhouse to facilitate. Otherwise, for the good folks researching into this for themselves, we can likely sit down somewhere in our travel schedule for an online meeting to get a good feel for what you are trying to achieve..
We want to see group rides and fundraisers succeed and we all have other jobs or careers usually on motorcycles professionally. If the GCD team ends up engaged on the ground and sending at some length the FRD to conduct groundwork in your fundraiser, ride design or execution of the event; we would love to see a donation to the foundation - otherwise, please know that there is no fee for any of the help provided.
We deeply respect your decision to step outside of the normal, the easy and the comfortable, in order to try to lead others towards a good cause thereby doing some good with your motorcycles in the process.
If you need help, drop us a note.
